To make it easy to access records for parent organizations, the Contact Mini Profile iPart dynamically links the contact's company name to the profile page for that company, if possible. When a matching company ID exists, the company name appears as a link that opens that company record. When no matching company exists, the Contact Mini Profile simply shows the name as text only.
Tip: This linking also exists for organizations (such as a regional office) that belong to a parent organization.
To convert company contact records to parent companies
When a company contact is also an individual (having First Name and Last Name values), Contact Mini Profile cannot link to it as a parent company. If you want to restore this handy linking, you can clean up your company records by removing the individual names stored in them. (Even though iMIS has an option hide the first/last name fields for companies, that data still exists until you delete it.)
1. In Desktop, go to the Customer setup window for Basic options.
2. Disable Suppress Individual Name Fields for Company Records and Save.
3. Remove the names from company records as needed.
Tip: To find them all, run a query for company records that have a Last Name value.
4. (optional) Return to the Customer setup window for Basic options and re-enable the option.
